To achieve the ProQual Level 5 Diploma in Fire Safety and Risk Management;

Candidates must complete the following 6 Mandatory units,

  • Manage fire safety matters in houses in multiple occupation and residential care

Upon successful completion of the ProQual Level 5 Diploma in Fire Safety and Risk Management, learners will be able to:

Review fire safety matters ensuring compliance with fire safety regulation and guidelines

  • Be able to define the statutory Fire Safety requirements for buildings in the UK
  • Be able to evaluate plans to determine fire risks associated with construction design
  • Be able to evaluate planned use of materials and their effectiveness
  • Be able to report on risks with recommendations to support appropriate risk reduction measures, fire precautions and maintenance routines

Assess arrangements to ensure an adequate means of warning and escape

  • Know how to identify and assess arrangements ensuring an adequate means of warning and escape
  • Be able to assess arrangements relating to the emergency planning and evacuation of the building occupants
  • Be able to inspect the equipment providing emergency escape from the premises
  • Be able to review the management of Fire Safety in relation to providing a means of escape

Identify, assess and control fire hazards

  • Know how to identify and assess fire related hazards and ensure the implementation of adequate controls
  • Be able to identify and report hazards and risks associated with fire

Ensure active fire protection provisions are in place and suitable for the premises

  • Be able to understand and apply fire protection provisions

  • Be able to demonstrate competence to inspect passive fire protection to prevent internal fire spread

  • Review the management of Fire Safety in relation to fire spread

Manage fire safety matters in Houses in Multiple Occupation and Residential Care

  • Be able to identify potential problems arising from the likely behaviour of people in the premises during a fire situation
  • Understand the Fire Safety requirements for Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO)
  • Understand the Fire Safety requirements for Care Homes

Entry Requirements

Entry Requirements

  • Learners must be 18 years of age or above at the time of registration.
  • A Level 3 or Level 4 qualification in Fire Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, Risk Management, or a related discipline is recommended.
  • Relevant work experience in fire safety, health and safety, facilities management, construction, or risk management is highly recommended.
  • Learners should have a good command of English to understand course materials and complete assessments.
