Upon the successfully Completion ICTQual AB Level 3 Award in National Vocational Beach Lifeguard Qualification (NVBLQ), learners will be able to:

  • Lifeguarding and Pool Safety Principles
  • Explain the key responsibilities and role of a pool lifeguard.
  • Identify common pool hazards and apply strategies to prevent accidents.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of water safety legislation, industry standards, and operational procedures.
  • Rescue Techniques and Emergency Response
  • Perform safe and effective rescue techniques for swimmers in difficulty.
  • Demonstrate appropriate entry, approach, and recovery methods for different rescue scenarios.
  • Apply correct emergency response procedures to minimise risk to casualties and bystanders.
  • CPR, First Aid, and Use of AED
  • Administer adult, child, and infant CPR according to recognised protocols.
  • Provide first aid treatment for common poolside injuries and medical conditions.
  • Operate an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) safely and effectively during emergencies.

  • Use clear verbal commands, signals, and communication techniques during incidents.
  • Work effectively as part of a lifeguard team to manage emergencies.
  • Document and report incidents accurately in line with organisational and legal requirements.

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old at the time of enrollment.
  • A minimum of basic secondary school education or equivalent is recommended.
  • Strong swimming ability and water confidence are essential. Candidates should be able to swim at least 200 meters continuously and demonstrate competence in pool-based rescues.
  • Learners must have a good command of spoken and written English to follow course materials, communicate effectively during training, and respond accurately in emergency situations.
